London Overground is the main suburban train network that connects Greater London with the city centre, with train terminals in Euston and Liverpool Street. The network runs a number of routes that can carry passengers throughout the capital, without going directly into the city.
Established in 2007 to take over Silverlink Metro routes, it now serves a large part of the city as well as the home county of Hertfordshire, with 112 stations on nine different routes. It is complementary to the London Underground.
The Overground forms part of the United Kingdom's National Rail network but it is under the concession control and branding of Transport for London. Operation has been contracted to Arriva Rail London since 2016. TfL assigned orange as a mode-specific colour for the Overground in branding and publicity including the roundel, on the Tube map, trains and stations.
The incorporation of the East London line into the Overground network has added substantial sections of line in tunnel, including the historic Thames Tunnel, the oldest tunnel under a navigable river in the world.
Splitting Your Train Tickets on London Overground Trains is allowed and is when you purchase separate tickets for two or more sectors of the London Overground Trains rail route you wish to travel instead of just one more expensive through ticket without affecting your travel options in any way.
For example, if you wanted to travel on London Overground Trains from Station A to Station D, you would expect to buy a ticket direct from A to D. However, you may find it a lot cheaper to buy a ticket from A to B, and another from B to C and still another from C to D for a cheaper combined train ticket price. This is especially true when not all sectors of your journey are during peak time.
So, by buying several tickets that in combination make up your whole London Overground Trains route, you could massively reduce your travel cost and you will still travel on the same London Overground train, at the same time and most probably in the same seat but pay a lot less by using split tickets. You may use split train tickets for travel on all London Overground Trains.
